Welcome to specs.app (the "Site"), operated by us ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. If you have any questions or concerns about this privacy policy, or our practices with regards to your personal information, please contact us via the Feedback page.

This privacy policy applies to all information collected through our Site, and/or any related services, sales, marketing or events (we refer to them collectively in this privacy policy as the "Services").

1. What Information Do We Collect?

Personal Information You Disclose to Us

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you use our feedback form or otherwise contact us.

The personal information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the Site, the choices you make and the products and features you use. The personal information we collect may include the following:

  • Email Address: If you choose to provide it in the feedback form.
  • Feedback Content: The message and subject you provide in the feedback form.

Information Automatically Collected

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use or navigate the Site. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use our Site and other technical information.

This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Site, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.

Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to access or store information. Specific information about how we use such technologies and how you can refuse certain cookies is set out in our Cookie Policy section below.

Currently, specs.app uses minimal cookies, primarily those essential for site functionality (e.g., CSRF tokens if forms use them, session cookies for logged-in states if applicable). Our feedback form includes a simple captcha which does not rely on third-party tracking cookies. We do not currently use third-party analytics or advertising cookies that track you across sites. As our site evolves, this may change, and this policy will be updated accordingly.

2. How Do We Use Your Information?

We use personal information collected via our Site for a variety of business purposes described below.

  • To respond to user inquiries/offer support to users: We may use your information to respond to your inquiries submitted through the feedback form and solve any potential issues you might have with the use of our Services.
  • To protect our Services: We may use your information as part of our efforts to keep our Site safe and secure (for example, for fraud monitoring and prevention, including the captcha on our feedback form).
  • For other Business Purposes: Such as data analysis, identifying usage trends, determining the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns and to evaluate and improve our Site, products, marketing and your experience.

3. Will Your Information Be Shared With Anyone?

We only share and disclose your information in the following situations:

  • Compliance with Laws: We may disclose your information where we are legally required to do so in order to comply with applicable law, governmental requests, a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process.
  • Vital Interests and Legal Rights: We may disclose your information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding potential violations of our policies, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person and illegal activities, or as evidence in litigation in which we are involved.
  • Third-Party Service Providers: The feedback you submit is processed through a third-party service (api.worldmarketclock.com). This service provider is contractually bound to protect your data and use it only for the purpose of processing your feedback on our behalf. We do not use other third-party service providers that would typically have access to personal data like hosting providers (Firebase handles this), analytics providers (not currently used), or payment processors (not applicable).
  • With Your Consent: We may disclose your personal information for any other purpose with your consent.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.

specs.app aims to use minimal cookies.

  • Essential Cookies: These are necessary for the site to function, for example, to remember your captcha input or other basic site operations. You cannot opt-out of these.
  • Future Cookies: If we introduce analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and provide mechanisms for you to manage your preferences, in compliance with GDPR and other regulations.

Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set, visit www.aboutcookies.org or www.allaboutcookies.org.

5. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting or other legal requirements). For feedback submissions, we may retain the information for a reasonable period to address the feedback, track issues, and improve our services.

6. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?

We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security, and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information.

7. Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information under applicable data protection laws like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for residents of the European Economic Area (EEA) and the UK, or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for California residents.

EEA and UK Residents (GDPR)

If you are a resident in the EEA or UK, you have the following data protection rights:

  • The right to access, correct, update, or request deletion of your personal information.
  • The right to object to processing of your personal information, ask us to restrict processing of your personal information, or request portability of your personal information.
  • The right to opt-out of marketing communications we send you at any time.
  • The right to withdraw your consent at any time if we have collected and processed your personal information with your consent.
  • The right to complain to a data protection authority about our collection and use of your personal information.

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:

  • The right to know what personal information is being collected about you.
  • The right to know whether your personal information is sold or disclosed and to whom. (Note: specs.app does not currently "sell" personal information as defined by CCPA).
  • The right to say no to the sale of personal information (opt-out). If we were to sell personal information, we would provide a "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" link.
  • The right to access your personal information.
  • The right to equal service and price, even if you exercise your privacy rights (non-discrimination).

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via our Feedback page. We will respond to your request consistent with applicable law.

8. Do We Make Updates to This Policy?

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last Updated" date and the updated version will be effective as soon as it is accessible. We encourage you to review this privacy policy frequently to be informed of how we are protecting your information.

9. How Can You Contact Us About This Policy?

If you have questions or comments about this policy, you may contact us by using the Feedback page on our Site.

Cookie Banner / Notification

As specs.app currently does not use third-party tracking, advertising, or extensive analytics cookies that require explicit prior consent under GDPR for users in the EU, a full-fledged cookie consent banner with granular controls is not strictly necessary *at this moment*. However, transparency is key.

Our Approach:

  • Information in Privacy Policy: We clearly state our current cookie usage in this Privacy Policy.
  • Implicit Consent for Essential Cookies: For users in the EU, continued use of the site after being informed (e.g., via a link to this policy in the footer) can be considered consent for strictly necessary cookies (though this is a gray area, and explicit consent is always better if non-essential cookies are used).
  • Future Implementation: Should we introduce cookies that require explicit consent (e.g., Google Analytics, advertising cookies), we will implement a GDPR-compliant cookie consent banner that:
    • Clearly informs users about the types of cookies used and their purposes.
    • Requests explicit consent before loading non-essential cookies.
    • Provides options to accept all, reject all (non-essential), or customize preferences.
    • Allows users to easily change their consent preferences.
  • CCPA (US - California): CCPA does not require prior consent for cookies in the same way GDPR does. However, it requires transparency about data collection and the right to opt-out of the "sale" of personal information. Since we do not currently sell personal information, a "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" link is not strictly required but will be added if our practices change. Information about data collection is provided in this policy.

We recommend that users manage cookie preferences through their browser settings.
